South Derbyshire District Council is the local Planning Authority and they have full powers when considering planning applications.

Rosliston Parish Council is consulted on all applications falling within the Parish boundary. As South Derbyshire District Council require comments within a given timescale, applications are notified to Councillors via email to allow an opportunity to comment (as sometimes the date is before our next meeting). For a more substantial or planning application likely to cause community concern it is discussed either at a separate meeting or the Parish meeting, where members of the public are allowed to state their opinions.
